He cross-bred the largest tomatoes he could find there and sold the resulting plants for one dollar each. He was able to pay off his mortgage in 6 years! Hence its name. This sweet-flavored tomato is large and meaty, with few seeds. It ripens to a deep pink. Perfect as a sliced addition to a sandwich and wonderful in salads.
